CONTINUOUS AGRICULTURAL INFORMATION PROGRAM – CAIP
The specific objective of this Program is to provide scientifically confirmed information about the vegetal and animal agricultural production of Lebanon. By its agronomical, macro and micro economic on-the-ground surveys, it delivers quarterly data with yearly Gross National Agricultural Product.
The project results are: a quarterly report about all crops harvested and all animal productions of 93 Small Agricultural Regions of Lebanon
The consolidation of the quarterly reports into a yearly report by crop, delivering Agronomical conditions and their impact, macroeconomic elements: areas, yields, farmer’s gate prices etc., micro economic elements: cost of production, feasibility of each campaign and farmer’s income.
The analysis of the evolution over 5 years and conclusions about the state of the agricultural sector
Any other study that could be needed, using CAIP data, i.e. in 2006 when Israel bombed Lebanon during crucial harvest time (12 July till 15 August), CREAL was able through its CAIP program to deliver in two weeks a full report about losses and damages resulting from war.
Thanks to CAIP, CREAL is the sole provider of Agricultural Statistics to the Central Administration of Statistics CAS a Department of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. It is yearly used since 2008 to produce the Lebanon GNP
“Study on Agricultural Labor Market in Lebanon”
In the absence of recent accurate formal assessments of the agricultural labor market in Lebanon – particularly following the outbreak of the Syrian crisis – The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is seeking to obtain a field-based quantitative and qualitative assessment of this market. The overall objective of the assessment is to collect baseline information on the agricultural labor market in Lebanon in order to provide insights into recent dynamics in the agricultural labor market, highlighting several dimensions, including regional, gender, child labor and other possible disparities. The outcome of this assessment would assist the FAQ, as well as policy-makers and implementation partners, in planning, developing and implementing targeted policies and measures so to appropriately address emerging and problematic issues identified in this market.
Comprehensive audit and Development Prospects-HOI MEA-Sudan
HOI MEA, a private sector investment company mostly involved in the telecommunication sector, Invested about US$ 20 million in a mega farm in Sudan. CREAL was approached to study its failing operation and was commissioned the Audit and the establishment of a Development plan of the farm.
Development of wheat production in Mali
The overall objective of this contract is to establish a plan for the development of wheat production in Mali by studying optimum conditions of wheat production: climate, hydrology, pedology, best cultural practices and by establishing a pilot project testing and confirming on the ground all findings and by implementing the pilot project while studying a five years’ plan aiming at covering country’s needs in wheat (30,000 to 60,000 hectares)
